Abstract
Calves that are fed or pastured with the intent of growth rather than finis hing are called stocker calves. Stocker calves are often recently weaned an d may be greatly stressed when received into new surroundings, which dramat ically impacts preventive health programs. The intake of newly received sto cker calves is likely to be greatly reduced, which complicates the issue of providing balanced rations to dehydrated and nutritionally deficient cattl e.
