Soft tissue sarcomas are uncommon malignancies found in 2/100,000 Americans . The accurate early diagnosis, adequate surgical resection and radiation t reatment is associated with a good prognosis in low-grade sarcomas and a fa ir prognosis in high-grade sarcomas, This monograph will discuss the princi ples of diagnosis, clinical presentation, adequate surgical management, rad iation therapy principles and role of chemotherapy in adult patients with s oft tissue sarcomas of the superficial trunk and extremities. Management of metastatic disease will also he discussed.
