Data transmission over the Meteor-Burst Communication (MBC) channel ha
s certain advantages that make it attractive for both civil and milita
ry applications. The recent development of netted MBCs coupled with th
e intermittent nature of such communications made methods to evaluate
the performance of systems operating on such networks of practical int
erest. Of special importance in particular, is the need to compute Mes
sage Waiting Time (MWT) or the average amount of time required to deli
ver a message of a fixed length from one point in the network to anoth
er. In this paper a mathematical analysis for the MWT for different ne
twork topologies is given. Tn addition, strategies for minimizing the
MWT over MBC networks are proposed and evaluated.
