Abstract
A few metal complexes of oxovanadium(V) with 2-(2-fluorophenyl-methylene) h ydrazine carbothioamide or -carboxamide and 2-[1-(2-fluorophenyl)ethylidene ] hydrazine carbothioamide or -carboxamide have been synthesized and charac terized by elemental analysis, molecular weight determinations, molar condu ctance, magnetic measurements, IR, H-1 NMR and F-19 NMR studies. The IR and NMR spectral data suggest the involvement of sulphur/oxygen and azomethine nitrogen in coordination to the central metal ion. The free ligands and th eir metal complexes have been tested in vitro against a number of microorga nisms to assess their antimicrobial properties.
