Abstract
The conditions for the extractive-spectre photo metric determination of Pd( II) with 1-(2'-aminoaryl-4,4,6-trimethyl-1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-6-hydroxy pyrim idine-2-thiol (HPT) (1a-c) have been established. The yellow-coloured Pd(II ) complex having maximum absorption at 435 nm, can be quantitatively extrac ted into chloroform. This complex conforms to Beer's law over the concentra tion range of 1.0-29.6 mu g of Pd(II) and forms a 1:4 complex. The proposed method offers excellent mutual separation of Pd(II) and Fe(III). The metho d was successfully applied for the determination of Pd(II) in synthetic mix ture, Pd-BaSO4 and Pd-charcoal catalysts.
