Abstract
The skin effect is due to the self-inductance of a conductor, and it become s very relevant at high frequencies. A rigorous mathematical treatment of t his effect is cumbersome, and several approximations are used for practical purposes. In this paper, a simple model that shows all the relevant proper ties of the effect is introduced. A closed analytical solution is obtained, which qualitatively agrees with more rigorous approaches.
