Abstract
The shear induced inertial migration of a rigid sphere has been studies com putationally by simulating the flow around a rigid,sphere with a Fourier fi nite volume technique. The values of the lift force obtained by flow simula tion have been compared with those predicted by asymptotic analyses for rot ating and non-rotating spheres. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd.
