Abstract
The electrooxidation of 1,3-propanediol has been studied in acidic and alka line medium on platinum and gold electrodes. Analysis of the reaction produ cts was carried out using HPLC. Formaldehyde, malonic acid and CO2 were pro duced. An in situ infrared reflectance spectroscopic investigation confirms these results and gives new information about adsorbed species.
