Induced double spawning of an Indian major carp, Labeo rohita, in the samebreeding season under the agroclimatic conditions of Assam

Present experiments reveal the possibility of spawning of Labeo rohita (Ham ilton Buchanan) successfully twice in the same breeding season in Assam wit h pituitary administration. First spawning was initiated in May when Rohu a ttained functional maturity synchronizing with the onset of favourable envi ronmental conditions, ahd after an inverval of 39-58 days, successful secon d breeding of the same spawners was conducted, resulting in the production of an additional crop of viable eggs. Aquacultural potentiality of these ex periments has also been discussed.
