Abstract
A facile synthesis of 4-acyl-2,6-dioxo-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyrimidines (6-acy l uracils) and 4-acyl-6-aryl-2-oxo-2,3-dihydropyrimidines is described wher e the Friedel-Crafts reaction on 2,6-dichloropyrimidine-4-carbonyl chloride plays a crucial role.
