Abstract
We describe the case of a 53-year-old man in whom pigmented bowenoid papulo sis developed on the skin of the neck. By polymerase chain reaction with ge neral primers for genital human papillomaviruses (HPV) and subsequent restr iction enzyme cleavage we could demonstrate HPV I X-related DNA in two biop sy specimens of the pigmented papules. To our knowledge, this report repres ents the first case of HPV 18-induced extragenital bowenoid papulosis of th e neck.
