Abstract
Bromination of pyrimidine nucleotides in aqueous conditions can be con veniently carried out using a mixture of potassium bromide and potassi um monoperoxysulfate (Oxone). Deoxycytidine can also be selectively br ominated in reaction mixtures containing uridine and thymidine. NMR st udies show the course of the reaction and formation of 5-bromopyrimidi ne products.
