Abstract
The structure on the subnanometer scale of hardened cement paste was invest igated by means of positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy. Ordinary Po rtland cement pastes were cured at room temperature and at 100% relative hu midity. the measurements were performed at different ageing times in order to assess the evolution of nanopores. The lifetime spectra were rather comp lex. showing three different long-lived components which reflect ortho-posi tronium decay in the pores. From the positron data an estimate of the first two moments of the distribution of the radii of the nanopores was obtained . (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
