K. Louchami et al., Cationic and secretory response of perifused rat pancreatic islets to incremental increase and fall in D-glucose concentration, MED SCI RES, 27(2), 1999, pp. 131-133
We have monitored the time course of the cationic and secretory response of
rat pancreatic islets at incremental rise and fall in D-glucose concentrat
ion between 7.0 and 9.0 mM in a perifusion device. Under these close-to-phy
siological conditions, the hexose caused changes in Rb-86 and Ca-45 outflow
, as well as insulin output, comparable to but less pronounced than that ob
tained in response to more substantial and rapid variations in D-glucose co
ncentration. Med Sci Res 27:131-133 (C) 1999 Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.
