Abstract
A solution of the problem of raising the corrosion resistance of machine pa rts to the level of modem industrial requirements with the use of gas nitri ding is suggested. The results of a study of the phase composition of a sur face nitrided layer of steel make it possible to explain the nature of the growth of its corrosion resistance.
