Abstract
Two new species of harpellid gut fungi, Smittium fecundum and Stachylina ro busta, were found living in larvae of Psectrocladius sp. (Diptera: Chironom idae) in a high-altitude kettle pond in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. A third species of Harpellales, Smittium mucronatum, previously known only fi om Psectrocladius sordidellus in southern France, was found co-inhabiting the hindguts of the Colorado Psectrocladius larvae. Several axenic isolates of S. feundum were obtained.
