Abstract
The main characteristics of nanosecond OPOs are presented: nonlinear c
rystals, tunability ranges, output energies and phase-matching conditi
ons. A semi-analytical model and a completely numerical model are desc
ribed. They point out the importance of the complex intensity distribu
tion that appears in the transverse planes of the output pulses, and a
re found to show good agreement with experiment.
