Abstract
The electronic structure of naturally occuring self-organized twinning superlattices based on PbS-Bi2S3 alloy is calculated and discussed. I t is found that these structures have many features common to the conv entional ''man-made'' superlattices, which, together with their stabil ity against interdiffusion and interface roughness problems, makes the m very attractive for further theoretical and experimental research, a nd possible applications.
