The magnetoresistance of CeNi1-xCux system is presented in fields up to 9 T
and temperatures down to 2 K. Different behaviors are observed for the Ni
rich compositions (ferromagnetic for x greater than or equal to 0.2) govern
ed by 4f-conduction band hybridization effects, and the Cu rich compounds (
antiferromagnetic for x greater than or equal to 0.9) where Kondo effect is
almost absent. The results are compared with the existing theories and dis
cussed in terms of the modifications of RKKY magnetic interactions and Kond
o effect when substituting Ni by Cu. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rig
