Abstract
We model the electronic structure of layered cuprates as doped insulators, and study spin-fluctuation-induced superconductivity in substitution-induce d midgap bands of both locaIized and extended states. We show that the tran sition to the superconducting state is coincident with formation of localiz ed bosons in the doped high-T-c compound. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. Al l rights reserved.
