Abstract
We investigate the interaction of strongly correlated electrons with phonon s for the Hubbard-Holstein model. A new diagram technique is used in order to handle the Coulomb repulsion between the electrons. In the limit of stro ng electron-phonon coupling this yields a collective mode of phonon clouds surrounding the polarons (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved .
