We present resistivity measurements on V2O3 single crystals in the metallic
phase at high pressure and low temperatures. From the T-2-coefficient we d
erive the pressure-dependent effective mass m*, which shows a steep increas
e on approaching the metal-insulator transition from the metallic phase sug
gesting a divergence of m* consistent with the model of Brinkman and Rice.
This divergence of m* is confirmed by the behavior of the magnetoresistance
and the disorder contribution to the conductivity. (C) 1999 Elsevier Scien
