Magnetic properties of the spin glass PrAu2Si2

We examined the magnetic properties of pure PrAu2Si2 and present results of linear and nonlinear magnetic susceptibility measurements. The data show t he characteristic features of a canonical spin glass, e.g. the critical beh avior of the nonlinear susceptibility at the glass transition and the frequ ency dependence of the complex linear susceptibility near the freezing temp erature, which is determined near T-F approximate to 3 K. It is the first t ime that spin glass behavior was found in a pure rare-earth compound with w ell-localized magnetic moments. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights r eserved.
