M-4,M-5 absorption edges in Ce-Kondo systems

We show in this paper that the Ce M-4,M-5 absorption edges can be used to s tudy the temperature behaviour of the 4f occupancy in Ce-Kondo systems. We report here the results obtained for CeRh. We demonstrate that some essenti al parameter like T-K can be obtained from such experiments. The advantages for using the M-4,M-5 edges are briefly discussed and the powerful of this technique for the study of(n(f) similar to 1) heavy fermion systems is add ressed, (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
