Abstract
We report a magneto-optical study of the LaX series with X = S, Se and Te. The Kerr rotation is dominated by a sharp resonance occurring between 2 and 3 eV which follows from the coupling between the plasma resonance and an e lectronic optical transition possibly involving f states.
