Abstract
It is still a question of interest why the distorted-wave Born approximatio n theory predicts well the structure of the angular distributions particula rly at low energies, in good agreement with the coupled-channel wave theory . The phases of the coupled-channel waves are found to be crucially importa nt in determining the structures of the angular distributions. The phases o f coupled-channel wave functions are shown to be close to the phase of the entrance channel in the classically forbidden region at low energies, thus allowing agreement between the two theories.
