Abstract
We present zero-degree differential cross sections and transverse spin-tran sfer coefficients D-NN(0-degrees) for the O-17.18((p)over-right-arrow,(n)ov er-right-arrow)F-17,F-18 reactions at E-p = 118 MeV.For the transition to t he F-17(g.s.) to which several multipoles contribute, the measured D-NN(0-d egrees) = -0.13 +/- 0.05 is used to separate the Fermi and Gamow-Teller con tributions at 0-degrees. The empirical Gamow-Teller strengths and the Fermi strengths are employed to estimate the solar neutrino absorption cross sec tion in O-17 and O-18. [S0556-2813(99)04503-3].
