Abstract
Using high statistic numerical results we investigate the properties of the O(3) nonlinear two-dimensional a model. Our main concern is the detection of a hypothetical Kosterlitz-Thouless (KT-)like phase transition which woul d contradict the asymptotic freedom scenario. Our results do not support su ch a KT-like phase transition. [S0556-2821(99)03106-9].
