We use a paramagnetic salt TbF3 with a dc SQUID to search for a possible ax
ionlike sigma.r interaction of a rotating copper mass with the salt. We set
new Emits on the axion coupling constant g(s)g(p)/(h) over bar c and the f
inite-range Leitner-Okubo-Bari Dass coupling constant A. Our limit for rang
e lambda at 30 mm is 2 orders of magnitude better than previous results. Fo
r lambda > 30 mm, g(s)g(p)/(h) over bar c is (0.14 +/- 0.67) x 10(-28), and
A is less than 10. The outlook for further improvement is discussed.
