Abstract
Critical superflow, preceding a free ringing superfluid oscillation, i nduces a remnant stochastic uncertainty in the oscillation amplitude. We demonstrate that the distribution function for the oscillation's ve locity amplitude reflects both the quantized size of the underlying ph ase-slip dissipation events, as well as the stochastic nature of the p rocesses which nucleate the slips.
