Abstract
Solid solutions Ar1-x(O-2)(x), 0.2<x<1, have been investigated by infr ared-absorption measurements of the O-2 stretching-band region. The ex periments suggest the formation of a quadrupolar and possibly also a s pin-glass state with a hcp center-of-mass lattice of 0.3<x<0.6.
