Vi. Litvinov et al., CURRENT-IN-PLANE MAGNETORESISTANCE - AN APPROACH TO BOUNDARY-CONDITIONS, Physical review. B, Condensed matter, 55(13), 1997, pp. 8374-8381
The giant magnetoresistance effect is calculated for metallic magnetic
superlattices with current-in-plane geometry by solving the semiclass
ical Boltzmann transport equation. Two types of interface roughness wi
ll be taken into account, geometrical interface roughness and scatteri
ng at defects, impurities, etc. located at the interface. Within this
approach, geometrical interface roughness with a finite correlation le
ngth is considered. It is shown that geometrical interface roughness,
without any other form of spin-dependent scattering, can result in a c
onsiderable magnetoresistance.
