Frustrated multiple internal reflectance (FMIR) spectra of epoxidian o
ligomers (degree of polymerization, 1.5-6) in chloroform solutions (co
ncentration, 5-75 wt%) were measured in the IR range (950-1650 cm(-1))
using KRS-5 crystal plates. The spectra of optical constants n(nu) an
d alpha(nu), the real alpha(nu) and imaginary alpha'(nu) parts of the
average complex polarizability <(alpha)over cap>(nu), and the orientat
ional parameters of macromolecules were calculated using the Fresnel a
nd Kramers-Kronig procedures. The concentration dependence of the seco
nd-order orientational parameters of oligomers in solution at the KRS-
5 surface, calculated from the spectra of polarizability alpha(nu), ag
ree well with the results of viscosity measurements and with the stati
stical parameters of light scattering (correlation radii of the polari
zability and orientation fluctuations in the bulk solution, determined
by the Rayleigh scattering technique).
