Abstract
The New Parent Warmline of the Parent Education Program at Saint Vince nts Hospital and Medical Center in New York City evaluated 5 years of service. Retrospective analysis of logs sampled from 3 time periods co nfirmed that the Warmline is reaching its heterogeneous target populat ion and making initial contact within the newborn's first weeks of lif e. The average call lasts 7.9 min, answers 3.4 questions, and delivers 1.6 services, including education, counseling, advocacy, and referral . Through referral, the Warmline is an early gateway to other services needed by those new parents who have additional stressors.
