Pr. Cooke et al., CHARACTERIZATION OF IRON TETRAARYLPORPHYRINS COORDINATIVELY BOUND TO SOLID SUPPORTS, Perkin transactions. 2, (8), 1995, pp. 1573-1578
Iron(III) tetra(pentafluorophenyl)- and tetra(2,6-dichlorophenyl)-porp
hyrin (FeTPFPP and FeTDCPP) has-e been co-ordinatively bound to imidaz
ole and pyridine groups on organic polymers (PSIm and PVP) and on the
surface of silica (SiIm and SiPy). The oxidation and spin states of th
e resulting supported catalysts have been characterised by UV-VIS, res
onance Raman and EPR spectroscopy. Evidence is presented that the iron
porphyrins on the flexible organic polymers are all low-spin bis-liga
ted iron(II) species. In contrast,on the rigid modified silicas the ir
on porphyrins are mono-ligated and high spin. Furthermore whereas FeTD
CPP on SiIm is an iron(III) species, on SiPy it is iron(II) and FeTPFP
P on SiIm is a mixture of both oxidation states.
