Abstract
C.I. Pigment Yellow 13 was rosinated with abietic acid and the abietic acid derivative, Staybelite, at up to 40% loading. The crude pigment, recrystallised pigment and rosin coated pigment preparations were exa mined by solid-state NMR spectroscopy and by powder X-ray diffraction. The primary effect of the rosination procedure is to increase the cry stalline order of the pigment. No evidence was found for any specific pigment-rosin interactions, (C) 1997 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd .
