Abstract
The crystal structure of Escherichia coli integration host factor comp lexed with DNA reveals how the sequence-specificity of DNA binding can be determined almost entirely by the structural features of the DNA i tself and not by direct readout of the base sequence. There are lesson s to be drawn for other DNA-binding motifs. (C) Current Biology Ltd.
