Abstract
A survey of 71 free-ranging and 29 farmed alligators (Alligator missis sippiensis) for Salmonella was conducted in southeast Texas and south Louisiana (USA) from September 1992 to September 1995. Salmonella spp. were isolated more commonly in indoor farmed animals (20%) than wild animals (2.8%). There was no difference in prevalence between wild adu lt (> 1.83 m) and wild subadult alligators (< 1.83 m). (C) 1997 Elsevi er Science B.V.
