A method of approximate quantitative IR spectral analysis of organic c
ompounds without the use of standard materials was tested as applied t
o artificial mixtures containing three and four components. The method
ology of a non-calibration method of additive mixture analysis is sugg
ested, which includes the calculation of absolute intensities of infra
red absorption bands of components and measurement of an integral abso
rbance on spectral intervals. It was shown that at least in the case o
f a ternary mixture the computed concentrations can be used for an app
roximate estimation of the mixture quantitative composition. (C) 1997
