Abstract
In the presence of a small amount of catalyst (mainly triflic acid), m ethyl N-(trimethylsilyl)pyroglutamate quickly reacts with benzhydryl c hlorides or preferentially with trimethylsilyl benzhydryl ethers to gi ve methyl N-(benzhydryl)pyroglutamates in nearly quantitative isolated yields.
