Abstract
Five new triterpene dimers, named isoxuxuarines A alpha (1), A beta (2 ), 7,8-dihydroisoxuxuarine A alpha (3), 7,8-dihydroxuxuarine A alpha ( 4), and xuxuarine E beta (5), were isolated from the South American me dicinal plant ''xuxua'' (Maytenus chuchuhuasca). Their structures, rep resentative of regiochemical and stereochemical isomers, were determin ed on the basis of spectroscopic evidence including CD spectral studie s.
