Abstract
We propose and analyze a novel recording and reading scheme far cross- talk noise reduction in volume holographic data storage. Each hologram is recorded with a slightly focused Gaussian reference beam and can b e read out by use of the same Gaussian reference. The waist of the ref erence Gaussian profile can be adjusted based on the required signal-n oise ratio and the storage density. Simulation results show the reduce d cross-talk noise yielded by the proposed scheme. (C) 1997 Optical So ciety of America.
