rs involving the solid organs that bud from the gastrointestinal tract
, principally the liver, and tumors intrinsic to the alimentary tract.
This article presents a review of the current state of understanding
of solid tissue tumors. The human genome project and better understand
ing of human genetics have led to remarkable changes in the classifica
tion and description of tumors of the alimentary tract. This article a
ttempts to summarize these changes to a current classification of the
gastrointestinal polyposis syndromes.
