THE EFFECT OF TRAPS ON SALT REDISTRIBUTIO N IN THE LOWER CAMBRIAN OF THE WESTERN SIBERIAN PLATFORM

This paper considers possible reasons for reducing the thickness of sa lt rocks in the Lower Cambrian deposits in the western part of the Sib erian Platform. The main reason seems to be dissolution of salts follo wed by their transfer by the trap-intrusion-warmed waters to colder pa rts of the section. The same processes are responsible for salting of rock collectors over separate areas in the west of the Siberian Platfo rm and reduced thickness of salt-saturated subdivisions of the Lower-C ambrian section.
