Abstract
On the basis of analysis of the inner structure of Stropheodontacea an d naming some elements, the morphological terminology applied in the R ussian literature to this group of ancient organisms has been ordered. The Russian and English terms have been considered in the context of their synonymy. Some recommendations are given concerning the translat ion of English terms into Russian and usage of their Russian equivalen ts. New species of Stropheodontacea Protodouvillina magna Yazikov, sp. n. and Protodouvillina acorrugata Gratsianova, sp. n. They are descri bed as new. New term ,,vestigial dentickpar plates'' is given. Analysi s is given to the stratigraphic distribution of the Siberian species o f the genus Protodouvillina for the Emsian-Givetian interval of the De vonian section, which permits an autonomous zonal scale of the high re solution to be developed. Support for wide geographical relations of t he Altai-Salair basin to the basins of Siberia, Europe, and North Amer ica in the Early and Middle Devonian comes from the presence of closel y-related species of Protodouvillina in the above-mentioned regions.
