Abstract
The review deals with methods of synthesis of deuterium labelled hydro phobic and hydrophilic synthones of lipid molecules as well as techniq ues designed to obtain selectively and fully deuterated phospholipids and their analogues. Deuterium labelled lipids are used, to study the structural organisation and functioning of biological membranes includ ing NMR and neutron diffraction studies of lipid-lipid and lipid-prote in interactions.
