Abstract
Self-excited spinodal decomposition oscillations are obtained in a bin ary, liquid, stratified mixture deep in the labile region. An optother modynamic method is presented for locating the binodal and the spinoda l in the temperature-concentration plane for stratified solutions with a lower critical point. It is shown that light-induced barodiffusion is an effective mechanism for translating a stratified solution into t he metastable region.
