MORPHOLOGICAL TYPES OF ROCK CLEAVAGE AND THEIR CLASSIFICATION

The paper is concerned with the modern definition of rock cleavage and systematics of its main morphological types from data of foreign rese arch. The author used Powell's classification as a basis to suggest a wider morphological scheme of rock cleavage based on the recognition o f two additional types, penetrative and selective, which are paragenet ically related to two main fold types, similar and parallel, respectiv ely. Using tectonic structures of the Verkhoyansk-Kolyma Mwsozoides as an example, distribution of the penetrative and selective of rock cle avges at different structural levels of fold areas and fault zones is shown.
