The paper is concerned with the modern definition of rock cleavage and
systematics of its main morphological types from data of foreign rese
arch. The author used Powell's classification as a basis to suggest a
wider morphological scheme of rock cleavage based on the recognition o
f two additional types, penetrative and selective, which are paragenet
ically related to two main fold types, similar and parallel, respectiv
ely. Using tectonic structures of the Verkhoyansk-Kolyma Mwsozoides as
an example, distribution of the penetrative and selective of rock cle
avges at different structural levels of fold areas and fault zones is
shown.
