ON NUMERICAL ALGORITHM FOR SOLVING THE PR OBLEM OF WAVE-PROPAGATION PROCESSES IN VERTICALLY-INHOMOGENEOUS MEDIA

This paper describes a numerical algorithm for solving the problem of wave propagation processes in vertically-inhomogeneous media. The nume rical method is based on the several independent approximations of unk nown functions, splitting the two-dimensional problem in series of one -dimensional problems, and iteration procedure for solving these probl ems on the difference grid which is adapted to specific media. The cor rectness of the algorithm is verified. The efficiency of the scheme is demonstrated by test examples and by solving a seismic sounding probl em with the use of an impact-type load of a multilayer medium.
