Abstract
Tin K-edge EXAFS show that low concentrations of tin in compounds of c omposition Fe3-xSnxO4 (x < 0.3) adopt the octahedral, as opposed to te trahedral, sites of the inverse spinel structure. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy shows that incorporation of tin is accompanied by the par tial reduction of Fe3+ to Fe2+. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
